I had decided to go to Nebraska to visit our Goddaughter and went on my own without Dave. I flew in on an early morning flight so that we could go to Kennedy’s school and surprise her. Diane; her Mom picked me up from the airport and we made our way to Kennedy’s school. I walked in and surprised her and the look on her face was incredible. She was quiet at first and appeared shy but then when she realized who I was; she couldn’t get over her excitement. We took her from school and went to have lunch. Her favorite food? Sushi! Diane took us to this Baby Blue Sushi Sake Grill. Baby girl powered down some sushi! It was amazing.
After lunch we went shopping to Von Maur; a Nebraksa icon in retail. Oh if we could have one of these in San Antonio. It’s very similar to Saks or Nordstrom but just filled with Midwest goodness and nice employees.
After a day together we got home to Diane’s place and got to visit with Erik her husband and Kylon her son. We ordered pizza and sat around and vegged. Kennedy insisted that I sleep in her room and take her bed and she camped out on the floor; it was too cute!
On Friday, Kennedy had her holiday party at school so Diane and I were “house moms” and helped set up the holiday theme goodies and played all the holiday games with the kiddos.
After the party we left Kennedy’s school and had an afternoon of shopping at the Nebraska Furniture Mart; another legendary place to shop in Nebraska.
That night we had dinner at the house and watched movies. Kennedy had a dance class the next day so Erik, Diane and Kennedy took me to the airport then boogied off for Kennedy’s dance class.
It was a whirlwind weekend but I hadn’t seen her in so long and it was long overdue.
Wish they lived in San Antonio again...
