Good news followers! Dave and I managed to avoid all disaster and get a flight from Dublin to Scotland on Tuesday, May 18th. As those of you reading and following along with us know; we were delayed by volcanic ash. Our original flight plans were to arrive in Dublin on Sunday, May 16th and catch a flight that afternoon to Glasgow. Unfortunately due to the ash and flight delays; we weren't able to fly that day but got out on Tuesday.
We got a room at the Hilton Airport in Dublin which amazingly didn't appear very near to the airport at all; or anything else for that matter. We checked in on Sunday evening and had dinner at the hotel. On Monday; after a good night's rest we got up and ventured onto the public transportation system and took a bus into the city center. We spent the afternoon touring on our own; Christ Church, Dublin Castle, lunch at a pub and later an adult beverage at Temple Bar. Of course on our walk through the city we happened to pass the Hard Rock Dublin and stopped in for a pin purchase. That night had us dining once again at the hotel restaurant and we were eager to get on our flight Tuesday morning.
Our weather in Scotland on Tuesday was absolutely stunning! It should have been the day to golf. Temps were 65+ and the sun was shining all day. We're staying at the Cameron House lodges at Loch Lomond. We're Hilton timeshare owners and we have reciprocal privileges through RCI. After settling in to our lodge and acquainting ourselves with driving on the left-hand side of the road; we ventured out to Loch Lomond Shores. Loch Lomand is the largest loch/lake in Great Britain, by surface area and contains many islands. That evening we attended a wine tasting presented by storyteller and author John Barrington at the Claret Jug at the Carrick Golf Club. He's the author of "Out of the Mist" and even autographed my copy!
On Wednesday the weather was proper Scottish; overcast and drizzly all day! We golfed at the Carrick with a very nice English couple who holidays (vacations) to Scotland each year for the past 7 years.
Wednesday evening Dave and I ventured out to the Clachan Inn; a pub in Drymen established in 1734.
Our internet accessibility is limited so pictures to be posted later.
Thanks for reading; until next post!

Glad you made it! If you see a postcard of Nessie, could you buy one for me? And if you see Nessie herself, be sure to take a photo.
