Memorial Day Weekend in NC

Once again I am remiss in our postings but nonetheless here I go. Dave and I spent Memorial Day weekend with our friends Kristen & John and Steven & Clay. It's been two years since our last visit and this time Kristen & John welcomed their daughter Kara into the fold. This time two years ago their son Ian was Kara's age and this year we got to have a weekend of fun with two kiddos! They are so cute and growing so fast. We flew to Norfolk and rented a car and drove to Corolla; located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The temps were in the 70s/80s; nothing like San Antonio. Dave and I dipped our toes into the surf. It was FRIGID! I was amazed at the number of children and adults swimming in it as if it were nothing. Living in South Texas has definitely thinned our blood and we simply can't get into anything less than waters whose degrees fall within the "tepid bathwater" range.

Pretty Kara

It was a nice quick weekend with friends and on one free day we made our way to Jockey's Ridge State Park. Jockey's Ridge is located in Nags Head, NC and is the tallest natural sand dune system in the Eastern United State! Kids and adults sand-board there as well as learn how to hang-glide. There is some really fascinating wild-life that reside in that area as well.

Here are some shots of the dunes and folks hang-gliding.

After a weekend of good friends and good food we returned back home. Home for the month of June but there is a Texas kayaking weekend to come! Pin It Now!
