Back to Maui

Aloha; here is a recap of our last few days. On Tuesday; our last day in Kauai before returning to Maui for another 3 nights, we started our day with lunch at Brennecke's Beach Broiler; just steps from the beach on Poipu Bay. After sharing the fish & chips (Ono being the fish 'o the day) and the luau pulled pork sandwich we took our full bellies on the road again to pass some time before hitting the beach to snorkel. We drove to Old Koloa Town and back to Hanapepe in search of a handmade; NOT made in China or the Phillipines Hawaiian quilt! Dave and I first saw one when on our first leg to Maui and again when in Kauai. Framed; they are lovely. The size that's normally framed is a pillow cover; we're not on the hunt for a full sized bed quilt. Also; they are very expensive! After our hunt; we were unsuccessful so we went back to the beach where Dave snorkeled and I enjoyed lying in the sand.

Our last night in Kauai was spent enjoying the last rays of sunshine at the pool followed by a dip in the jacuzzi where we chatted with three other couples; one who were recently married and were in Hawaii to renew their vows; a second from Washington and a third from California who had been married for 36 years. We sat on the terrace deck of the hotel and watched the ceremonial torch lighting and traditional Hawaiian dance. Our last night's dinner was at Yum Cha; which means "to drink tea". Yum Cha is an Asian infused restaurant at the clubhouse of the Grand Hyatt! Dave and I thought that this was an extraordinary idea and good use of a club house in the evening; San Antonio courses make note! What a money maker!

On Wednesday we flew back from Kauai to Maui and had a tee time at Elleair Maui Golf Club in Kihei, Maui. What a great course! We had the most beautiful day and both of us greatly enjoyed our round. Here are shots of us at play!




After golf we checked in to the Westin Maui. We enjoyed a lovely dinner beach side overlooking another gorgeous Hawaiian sunset. Our views at dinner included the island of Lanai and Molokai; each just being a little over 8 miles from Maui. This month's issue of Hana Hou! the magazine of Hawaiian Airlines has an article on the channel swimmers; great reading.

Today we separated ways and Dave took to the golf course while I took to the beach and pools on property. Dave golfed at the Kaanapali Golf Course. He was paired with a local and a gentleman from Houston who said he shops H-E-B twice a week!

Tomorrow we're off to tour the Northwest coastline of Maui. Saturday; our return date home will be topped off with a helicopter tour of the island. Pin It Now!
