We arrived on Saturday afternoon, January 17. That evening Dave, his colleague Robbie, Robbie's daughter and her girlfriend and myself had a very nice vendor dinner at the Prado at Balboa Park. The Prado is 12 of 13 restaurants who are members of Cohn's Restaurant Group. The restaurant sits in the Historic House of Hospitality in Balboa Park. If ever in San Diego you should try to get by and view the park; the historic buildings and area.
Also while in San Diego I was given the opportunity to have lunch with a Facebook connection and friend Julia! Julia brought along two out of three kids to lunch. Her son Kole is 5 and spent his day with Dad. Julia, Kristen, Katrina and I had lunch at a place right on the main drag; Burger Lounge. After a very yummy burger and onion ring lunch; we drove through Coronado and dipped our toes into the ocean. Here's a photo of Julia and her beautiful daughters Katrina and Kristen.
I spent one day at the pool while there. Also walked the beach and the property exploring every nook and cranny. One day's weather was not so warm but it was during the Presidential Inauguration. On the 20th of January I remained in my guest room glued to the television from sun up to sun down.
On one of the nights of Dave's conference; there was an event held at Stingaree, a hip nightclub. StorePoint bought out the venue and had the entire place to themselves. They are known for various celebrity DJs and stars. That evening there was a raffle with a grand prize drawing of a trip to Italy. Guess who won that trip? No one other than Dave himself! So, in 2009 we will be returning to Europe and will travel to Italy.
Our next destination is to Puerto Rico for vacation. Till then; we will close with some photos from San Diego.
